PEN NAMES

We use pen-names instead of our real name. This protects your privacy and makes you anonymous to others who may read our newsletter.

When you apply for membership you provide 2 choices of Pen-name. Where possible you are given one of these choices. Sometimes this is not possible if they are already in use.

Many members choose to use their own first name and an initial – either an initial that represents their surname or their middle name. Sometimes it may just be a randomly chosen initial that no-one else has eg. John C or John F.

Some members choose their own real nickname eg Bazza or Red

Many other members choose a pen-name that they feel better reflects their personality
eg. Mr Cool or Gypsy.

This page gives some suggestions for some unusual pen-names used by ex-members.

Don’ts

  • Don’t use a pen-name that can confuse your gender with the readers eg George (female) or Sue (male)
  • Don’t use just initials (eg J.B. or TLC). Some member’s different writing styles can make them difficult to work out.
  • Don’t use a star sign (Scorpio or Taurus) – everybody chooses these.
